On March 18th, Sinoma Energy Conservation Ltd. and Mpande Limestone Limited jointly held the commissioning ceremony for the 36MWp solar PV project at CNBM Zambia Industrial Park – a key initiative toward achieving “zero electricity outside purchased” for the park. The successful grid connection marks the early commercial operation of the solar component, while the waste heat recovery project is progressing as planned and now entering its peak construction phase.

The ceremony was attended by Zuo Dayong, Vice President of Sinoma Energy Conservation Ltd. and Chairman & General Manager of its Sinoma Energy Conservation Intemational Investment Co,Ltd; Shao Mingzhu, Chairman & General Manager of Mpande Limestone Limited; Yang Houjian, General Manager of Sinoma International Zambia; and representatives from Zambia’s Energy Regulation Board, Zambia Development Agency, Zambia Environmental Management Agency, Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, and ZESCO.

In his speech, Zuo Dayong highlighted that this project at CNBM Zambia Industrial Park represents a key step in advancing Sinoma Energy Conservation‘s green energy solutions in Africa. Despite challenges such as complex logistics and difficult rainy-season construction, the project team delivered high-quality results through strong collaboration and support from all partners. Moving forward, the company will continue to leverage its technical strengths to accelerate the waste heat recovery project, ensuring stable and reliable green power for the industrial park while promoting more clean energy initiatives overseas.

Shao Mingzhu noted that the project will significantly enhance the park’s energy security, providing cleaner and more stable power for industrial operations while reducing energy costs and carbon emissions. This marks an important milestone in advancing green, low-carbon, and high-quality development.

As Sinoma Energy Conservation’s first green and low-carbon demonstration project in Africa, this initiative stands as a landmark achievement under the Belt and Road Initiative. It reflects the company’s commitment to deepening its presence in Africa’s energy market and contributes to Zambia’s energy transition and sustainable development, while showcasing the power of China-Africa cooperation in pursuing a greener future.

Attendees also included Duan Tiezhu, Head of the Marketing Department at Sinoma Energy Conservation Ltd.; He Dahai, Deputy General Manager of its Engineering Branch; Sun Yi, Deputy General Manager of its Sinoma Energy Conservation Intemational Investment Co,Ltd.; Wang Yibing and Wang Guojun, Deputy General Managers of Mpande Limestone Limited; Zhao Qingan, CFO of Mpande Limestone Limited; and representatives from all project partners.
